How Valuable Is A Soul To You?

I was in church today and something the pastor said triggered a thought about the value of a soul. There is a song by Jason Mighty and DJ Nicholas that says "me wan 1 soul to carry go home...because I cannot go to my father with an empty hand..." How many of us want this but see soul winning as a job? A job for pastors, a job that you have to be deemed "gifted" to do, a job that u have to be so versed all the time.... I know I felt like that many times, but I've come to realise that we all should partake in this opportunity. Yes I said "opportunity". We are all charged with the great commission to go out and spread the gospel. This should not be looked upon as a "charge" per say but more like an "opportunity" to bring others (friends, family and even foes) into the kingdom of God; to share what we have been so fortunate to receive, the gift of eternal life.

Picture the day our Lord and Saviour returns for us like this:

The saved are on a train that is heading out of a dark tunnel into a marvelous light. We all are there seated and watching out the windows then we begin to see all those who have missed the train. We see Aunty Roxanne, Betty, Jasmatie, Sita and Aunty Paulette. Uncle Frank, James, Eugine, Ben and uncle Tyrone, Cousin Rolle, Bain, Taylor and Deveaux; Neighbour David, Sally and their three children, neighbour Mackey, neighbour Thomas and neighbour Johnson; high school, college, and even present friends, Jason, Keon, Toya, Dwayne, Fabian, Shawn, Cindy and Jackie. As the train goes along you begin to become more and more amazed at the amount of people you know who have missed the train. You even locked eyes with your very own mother and the tears starts flowing. As you get closer and closer to the light you drift further and further away from those who were a part of your life all the while.
No-one wants to miss that train. So don't let them.

I don't know about you but this thought was very sobering to me. We take a lot of things for granted friends. This post was not intended to scare anyone but just to evoke urgency and zeal in you to be fishers of men. Do not let an opportunity pass to spread the good news of Jesus Christ. Do not condemn the unbeliever because "...he that believeth not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the only begotten Son of God". Show compassion, show charity, be genuinely concerned about their salvation. We are our brothers' keeper. Romans 10 13-15: For whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, how shall they call on Him if they do not believe? and how shall they believe in Him whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a "preacher"? And how shall they preach except they be sent? as it is written how beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things!" Again, we all are commissioned to do this!

For those who don’t know My God and Saviour as yet, I earnestly pray that you would accept Him into your life, even now. Recognise that you are a sinner and is in need of a saviour. Confess it with your mouth and believe in your heart. Accept Jesus into your life and let Him rebuild you. You will become a new creation in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17). If you did this you have caught the train. Do not be left out! Get a good Bible, read it as much as you can, join a church with good biblical foundation and seek His face, your life will be transformed for the better.

Be exhorted! Be blessed! Be empowered to FISH!

The song from Young Rev & MCK really hit the nail on the head.

  • I like this “As you get closer and closer to the light you drift further and further away from those who were a part of your life all the while.”
